This camera supports 5mp image resolutions. 5mp images provide a much clearer, sharper image than the previous Full HD 1080P cameras with a resolution of upto 2560 x 1920 being recorded. The internet is a sea of information with regards to the difference between 2mp or 5mp cameras but its simple. The more megapixels the better the image clarity recorded.
A 5mp camera not only has better image quality than a 1080p (2mp) camera but the colour purity and balance are much more realistic. They offer almost twice the resolution received when using 1080p (2mp) cameras. The 5mp cameras have much clearer images when zoomed in, even when digitally zoomed.
_x000D_ Sony STARVIS (Starlight Technology)
What is the STARVIS Technology? Well simply put, Starvis technology improves dark environments. Starvis cameras show bright colourful images at very, very low light levels. Pictures that are almost impossible make out with the naked eye and are barely visible with other cameras become much clearer when using Starvis cameras.
When the lights drop most CCTV cameras switch and record in black and white using the infrared LEDs, when using a Starvis cameras with enough ambient lighting your camera will stay in FULL COLOUR. Perfect for the front of your house or anywhere with street or security lighting. Standard Sensors in night mode often have white wash issues such as car headlights which prevent you from reading registration plates or faces up close lack detail. The Starvis sensor combats this allowing for much clearer images to be captured in low light environments.

What is the H.265+ codec? Its sounds complicated but it really isnﾒt. The H.265+ codec compresses images allowing for the same image quality to be recorded but taking less storage on your hard drive. This must be supported by both the camera being used but also with your recording unit (DVR/XVR/NVR).

Digital noise reduction (DNR) reduces noise/interference from your image allowing for improved image quality to be captured. The 3D DNR is the latest technology which enables noise to be filtered even more effectively especially in low light environments.

Back-light compensation, this technology is designed to optimise the brightness of images captured.
_x000D_ Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)
Wide dynamic range allows for your camera to adjust automatically to bright and dark areas to adjust for and eliminate overexposure and under exposure conditions.
Cameras with sense up are capable of seeing in near total darkness while retaining full colour images. They do not rely on artificial lighting to see in very low light environments.
Up the Coax (UTC)
Not to be confused with POC (Power Over Coax), the up the coax feature allows for you to amend an analogue cameras on screen display through the coax cable connected. This allows you to change settings such as video brightness, contrast, white balance etc via the XVR/DVR recorder and not while up a ladder installing your camera allowing you to select the perfect setting for your environment.
